Prophet makes a esoteric subject practical

You Can Learn Math the Hard Way or...I've corresponded with a Dr. Osher Doctorov. He is a math and physics teacher who has so many credentials that it will make your head ache (see his comments on flash cards in his reviews on mathematics). He is the one who turned me onto the idea of flash or study cards.
One disagreement with Exambusters. The flash cards need to be used during the math courses and be given top priority. Not just for exams. But for the study of math in general. This is all based on learning theory. One doesn't have to take an opinion about it. If B.F. Skinner used immediate reinforcement on pidgeons and it worked, why do we assume that pidgeons should be treated with more respect than our children or us? I study algebra for relaxation (once I did so for 6 hours without stopping). But Dr. Octorov believes that the torture used on not knowing an answer to an equation that we have tumbled with can be a great pain. Or at least this is his implication. He has taught all ages of students and take a look at this reviewer's credentials! Do you and your kids a favor. Buy these flash cards. And then test your children if you like! Make it a game! Also see my review on Polya's book, "How to Solve It!". Math is a question mark. Not a period. Than you.

Best way to improve your vocabulary!I recommend using flash cards because it is the best way to see if you really know what a word means or not. Regular word lists have the definitions right next to the word, which doesn't help you quiz yourself.
All in all, buy this to improve your score! It's WORTH IT!

Good Novelization of Cheesy 1980s Comedy FlickThis is the next best thing to watching the movie, particularly if you don't have a VCR/DVD player handy. I read this book a lot when I was in middle school, though I watched the movie even more. This is a good novelization of one of the cheesiest comedy flicks from the '80s. The only drawback is that are no pictures of the movie inside, just one group shot on the back cover. Also, some of the profanity was altered, like Brad's favorite "h" name for Thor, Sarah's fair-haired superhero, possibly because of the younger readers who might read this book. Still, this book is worth owning if you're really into the "Adventures in Babysitting" movie.
